How to prep your skin before makeup.
Updated: Feb 17, 2020
So you just booked your appointment, you’re so freaking excited scrolling on every major makeup artist’s feed for inspiration, products and hacks. But what you don’t see is all the religious skincare that happens well before the makeup goes on. You’re getting your glam done for a reason you better treat your face like its paying the bills.
The right regimen will make your glam red carpet worthy. Having skin that you show love to will set the tone of your makeup. These are the exact things I really wish all of clients did before coming to their appointment.
Cleanse: Make sure your face is clean of any debris. My favorite cleanser is the Vinopure Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser by Caudalie
Exfoliate: Starting with clean skin, the next step would be to exfoliate for a smooth finish. For a scrub I recommend the Deep Cleansing Exfoliator by Caudalie
Lip scrub: scrub your lips with your tooth brush to get all the dead skin off. It’ll plump your lips and encourage blood flow to make them look more youthful. Follow up with something super hydrating I make every single client of mine purchase Lip Sleeping Mask
Toner: It prepares the skin to drink up your post-cleansing moisturizer and any other skin treatments that you may apply. They can tighten your pores reducing the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the skin
Moisturizer: Not just because it feels nice and makes you look amazing. Moisturizing reduces the chances of skin problems, helps your skin stay young & fights wrinkles. My favorite is by Tatcha
Eyecream: Eye creams help to nourish the skin, keep it moisturized and prevent dullness. They help fight puffiness and brighten eyes. The skin under your eyes is extremely sensitive and dry easily. Chances of wrinkles, dark circles and fine lines are very high.
